OnStar Will Rapidly Deploy in China; Listen to Tim Cox Explain How...

GM, the USA's 4th largest corporation, is globalizing OnStar, its groundbreaking in-vehicle safety and security system, in one of its fastest growing worldwide markets: China. This is no mean feat, and will require adroit and skillful technology planning.

To support the company's ambitious growth plan, the OnStar IT infrastructure will be simplified. New technologies to enable OnStar to succeed and thrive are under careful consideration, including a completely unified communications strategy. At the Midwest Technology Leaders 2008 Symposium, OnStar CIO, Timothy Cox, will discuss OnStar's plans for global expansion, improving customer services and customer choices, and the technologies his experienced team are evaluating for the future.

Mr. Cox is uniquely qualified to be leading this innovative effort. As CIO for OnStar, he is responsible for all IT systems delivering navigation, telephony, vehicle diagnostics and other value-added services for the CAR OF TOMORROW (and today!). His career spans rapidly increasingly responsible positions at GM including: Regional Process Information Officer North America Product Development, Director of Vehicle Integration and Design IT, and Director of Global Systems Integration.

Prior to GM, Tim was a veteran at IBM, where he served in a variety of IT consulting and systems engineering roles, focused on the automotive industry. He holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the University of Michigan. Tim is also a licensed PE (Professional Engineer) and an active member of the SAE (Society for Automotive Engineering).

The MGM Resort/Gaming Empire Continues To Dramatically Expand, and
Tom Peck Will Share The Essential Role of IT in That Growth!

As you are rolling those dice, or concentrating on the spin of that roulette wheel, have you ever stopped to think of the intricate infrastructure on which a casino empire is built? Or, as you plan your next vacation, do you contemplate the phenomenal growth, and rapidly-evolving nature, of resorts? If you are curious about this market (which touches so many of us) or simply fascinated by the innovative application of technology, this session will excite you. Tom Peck is traveling in from Nevada to lead this discussion at Midwest Technology Leaders. It is a "must attend" event.

The complexities of Peck's company are great. MGM MIRAGE is not just one of the world's largest gaming companies; it also owns or is invested in over 20 global mega-resorts including the Bellagio, MGM Grand, and many more. MGM MIRAGE continues to open luxury-branded resorts globally, including the planned $8B City Center complex In Las Vegas. In his session, Peck will provide an in-depth perspective on, and discuss best practices for, successfully deploying technology to deliver business benefits and an exciting and engaging guest experience. Tom's agenda is valuable for all technology leaders, and those soon to become technology leaders. It includes a discussion of how to gain executive buy-in for IT initiatives; how to attract and retain top talent; the integration of Six Sigma; balancing innovation with execution; and how to manage technology vendors for a "win-win" outcome!

Tom Peck has been the CIO for MGM MIRAGE for over two years. In that role, he has operational and strategic responsibilities for all technology supporting the company's 70,000 employees across 17 global mega-resorts and numerous other investments. Prior to joining MGM, Tom served as EVP/CIO for NBC Universal's global entertainment business units.

Peck's career features nearly 20 years of experience in information technology, financial management and Six Sigma. He spent eight years with the General Electric (GE) Company in a variety of technology roles including: internal IT consultant; management of IT quality; and strategic IT management supporting Latin American Systems, Sales & Marketing, M&A, ge.com, corporative initiatives, and a number of other areas.

Peck began his career as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he managed financial systems, and project management. He was the Deputy CFO at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune (in North Carolina); and also served in the Marine Corps CFO office, in the Pentagon.

Peck earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the U. S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD and has a Master of Science Degree in Management from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. He is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt and has graduated from several of GE's executive training programs.
