University of Toledo CIO Stephen Swartz Will Discuss Mergers and Consolidation and Affect Of Combining Disparate Information Technology Cultures

Having led the merger of a number of IT departments in his career, University of Toledo's Interim CIO, Steve Swartz, believes that culture is THE biggest issue during a merger.

Swartz comments that "You'd think that technology is the hardest part, but it isn't --- it's the people and getting them to think and move forward in a consistent way." In his perceptive presentation on June 5th, at Midwest Technology Leaders 2008, Swartz will examine how consistent best practices can help IT leaders change and create a successful infrastructure during a merger.

mong other issues Swartz will discuss:

  • Retention of key employees
  • Management of your staffing model
  • Recruitment of talent to fill in gaps
  • Integration of applications
  • Managing disparate networks
  • Quickly reacting to new requirements and dramatic changes in system implementations
  • The importance of open lines of communication and maintaining high morale
  • ...and other "real life" scenarios with which IT leaders often have to contend in times of change

A rare combination of visionary and "hands-on" change agent, Swartz will offer a personal insight into his own strategy for staying happy and productive in the midst of chaotic upheaval, and offering strong leadership to the team for which he is ultimately responsible.

Don't miss Swartz's session on the very real scenarios faced by IT departments in the midst of merger activity, at Midwest Technology Leaders on June 5th, 2008.
