This month marks the kick-off of an exciting new Information Technology Executive Mentoring Program, designed to foster the talents and career paths of Michigan's upcoming technology talent. ConnecTech, the state's premier network for technology professionals, has partnered with Midwest Technology Leaders to offer a program providing vital support and resources to IT professionals across various disciplines.

Mentors are:

Mentees meet quarterly with their mentors. Participants will connect quarterly to discuss their questions and concerns. Executive Coach Barry Demp, of Demp Coaching, will provide additional training to mentors and mentees to strengthen the relationships between the mentors and mentees, and also provide program consistency. Demp is a master certified coach and president of the Michigan chapter of the International Coach Federation.

Program Goals:

  • Create a collaborative relationship between the mentor/mentee to facilitate coaching relationship
  • Provide mentors/mentees with professional and personal growth opportunities
  • Focus on, and improve, essential skill sets identified by mentee/mentor team
  • Assist mentees with achieving goals and measure achievement

Mark your calendar for June 4th from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM for a celebration of corporate and individual commitment to Michigan. The premier pre-event MTL 2008 Awards Cocktail Reception will honor those who have made a difference in our community. The cost for the public is $55 pre-registered and $65 at the door; a portion of the proceeds benefit the Michigan Council for Women Foundation (MCWTF) and the Society for Information Management (SIM) foundation.

Midwest Collaboration Award Honors Collaboration between Business and Community for the Fourth Year

Created in 2005, The Midwest Collaboration Award (MCA) identifies and honors strong partnerships between Midwest companies and local individuals or groups positively impacting the technology community. The MCA recognizes one partnership producing significant growth for the technology community. Partnerships between companies, organizations, or individuals and local governments, academic institutions (elementary to university), non-profit organizations, and businesses with a technology focus and measurable results are eligible to participate in the award. Wireless Washtenaw received the 2007 award. The deadline for application submission is April 25th, 2008.

Nominations Sought For Corporate Commitment to Michigan (2CMICHIGAN) Award

Do you know a corporate individual whose community involvement helps to promote a healthy, highly functioning Michigan? Midwest Technology Leaders 2008 seeks nominees for the Corporate Commitment to Michigan (2CMICHIGAN) award. This award honors an individual from the Michigan business community who actively participates in community relations, organizations and other philanthropic activities that enhance our community.

Categories include:

  • Innovation: Those contributing imaginative, cutting-edge solutions and strategies that will help transform and empower our community
  • Excellence: Persons contributing at the highest level of performance to create a positive impression for the State of Michigan
